BBC Scotland TV Drama is looking to recruit a Script Editor for an initial twelve month contract.

Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that commissioned scripts are of the required standard, conform to the editorial brief and are available for use at the appropriate time;
- Ensuring that writers are actively involved in script alterations in order to preserve the quality of the working relationship between production and writer;
- Ensuring the writer is sufficiently aware of the financial implications of editorial decisions;
- Taking responsibility for development: to generate creative ideas and story ideas of the highest standard and introduce a diverse range of new writers to the department;
- Advising on all script-related matters associated with production (at all stages from initial concept to amendments to shooting script).

Key attributes for candidates include:
- Substantial script-editing experience (12 months minimum);
- A knowledge of new writers and talent and an understanding of copyright law, Writers Guild agreements, contracts and the legal implications of the production process;
- An enthusiasm and interest in popular entertainment and a passion for drama - television, film, theatre and radio;
- Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to establish and maintain good working relations with a wide range of contacts.
