TV Turkeys 2009

Voting for the TV Turkeys 2009 has closed and we can reveal that the 'winner' of the UK's worst TV show in 2009 is:
TOP GEAR, attracting 22% of your votes.
Mirroring Sandra Bullock's Razzie/Oscar win earlier in the year, Top Gear also took the title of the Best Programme of the Decade in a recent Channel 4 poll. Spooky.
Comments to accompany the nominations, included: "Self-centred garbage"; "Tired of seeing the team churn out the same flim-flam week after week"; "Predictable, puerile and a paradise for poseurs."
Anyway, congratulations to the BBC's in-house production unit on winning the inaugural TV Turkey award - we'll be commissioning a bespoke trophy to present to the team in the next few weeks.
And what about the also-rans? Well, plenty of variety and vitriol from the voting viewers, including:
X Factor - "It's the epitomy of the manipulative type of reality TV which is sullying our airwaves..."
Coming Of Age - "Makes Two Pints Of Lager look like Seinfeld..."
The Limmy Show - "Beautifully filmed but devoid of any humour or positive features..."
Big Brother - "Talentless idiots being rewarded for being talented idiots, year after year after year..."
Fearne Cotton Meets... - "Frost vs Nixon for four-year-olds..."
We Are Klang - "What was the point of it? Absolutely awful television..."
Hole In The Wall - "This is appalling TV for morons. A national embarrassment..."
Big Top - "It's as archaic as Babylonian cuneiform..."
Miranda - "Everyone seems to find her hilarious and a "breath of fresh air". They deserve a
slap..."
A huge thanks to everyone who cast their votes. We'll be opening the voting for the 2010 TV Turkeys later in the year, so make a note of any shows that grind your gears over the coming months.
